Rename a file in Windows Explorer
1) Open Windows Explorer:
a) Click the 'Start' button to display the 'Start' menu.
b) Select 'Programs' and select 'Windows Explorer'.
2) Select the file to be renamed:
a) Double-click the folder containing the file from the 'All Folders' list box.
b) Select the file from the 'Contents of <path>' list box, where <path> indicates the drive and folder where the file is stored.
3) Select the 'File' menu and select 'Rename'. (The filename is highlighted.)
TIP: To rename a file more quickly, right-click the file and select 'Rename' from the pop-up menu that appears.
4) Type the new filename and press ENTER.
NOTE: Renaming the file does not affect the hidden file extension.
